The Girl And The Ghost by Hanna Alkaf

It’s 11 O’clock now and I just started working. No Fridays for me! There’s a lot to do today so I hesitated a little what to begin first. But finally, I went with what my heart chose, to write this book review. “The girl and the ghost by Hanna Alkaf.” I so wanted to write a review about this book because this is clearly the best book I read this year. Also I have been talking about the books that I didn’t enjoy all year that I wanted to give you at least one good book recommendation.

You know I was fed up with the series of disappointing books that I read in 2020. I desperately wanted to read at least one good book this year, otherwise, what am I even as a reader. Never have I ever imagined reading books can be so relaxing. And my prayers have been answered and here I am holding the best read so far in my hands.

So shall we get started?

I follow Sumaiyya books on Instagram and that is one of the places where I find my possible reads. I really admire the way she carries her social media and I also find her book recommendations quite interesting.

I came across this book “The girl and the ghost” on her Insta and I instantly liked the cover picture. And within just a few days from then I have that book with me.

I so wanted to read something refreshing as the last book I’ve read was such a drag. You can check out my review for that here. And yes, I think this has somewhat satisfied my thirst for a good book.

What did I like about it?

The story is simple, nothing too twisted or over-the-top in any sense.

The narration is just as simple as the story.

Though the story is simple, it is unpredictable (in the end).

The character creation was done well. Relatable and feels like real persons. It’s like you are traveling along with the characters throughout the story.

And the best part is that there’s no-nonsense or unnecessary descriptions. It’s clear, straight, and on-point.

What I didn’t like about it?

There’s hardly anything that I didn’t like about it. It’s perfect. With a cup of coffee in one hand while holding the book in another, rain drizzling outside, this book will be a pleasant experience.

But Suraya doesn’t know that Pelesits have a dark side – and when Pink’s shadows threaten to consume them both, they must find enough light to survive. Before they are both lost to the darkness.

So, that’s all for today. And I’ll see you soon again with another book review. I already ordered the next book I’m going to read. It’s called “Before the coffee gets cold“. It has an intriguing storyline that prompted me to go with it. If you have already read it, leave a comment and tell me if it’s a good one.
