How to Find True Friends

Friendships matter. Everyone has their share of bad and bitter friendships. There’s really no way to guess what a particular friendship holds until we experience it in real-time. I believe we have to go through a few bad friendships before we meet the real kind. Although it is unavoidable, I think we can minimize the heartache through our own actions and priorities. So let me ask this question once again, “How to find true friends?

Each of us has our own opinions and this is mine. Let us know what you think in the comments.

Find True Friends

Friendship is such a beautiful bond. Being able to trust someone and share our innermost feelings, being able to have a hearty laugh with, wow, what a lovely feeling.

We see myriads of movies and dream of having friends just like we saw in that made-up world. We all did that at some point in time, didn’t we? But is reality anywhere close to what we saw? Nah! There might be a few exceptional cases. If you’re one, then you’re lucky.

1. Quality over quantity

It’s not a bad thing to be a little choosy when it comes to people. Because they influence our thoughts, thus life itself. I strongly believe that if one chooses a bad friend, they chose a bad life.

Your priorities reflect in your relationships. If a person chooses to have only a big group of friends, he might get it. But does it matter? Nope. They will nevertheless feel lonely.

Instead, just imagine having one good friend who is always there for you. Doesn’t it sound better?

2. Always keep your heart open

Bad friendships happen. No matter how careful you are. Don’t let it bother you or worse, break you. After a few bad connections, it’s natural to shut our hearts. But make an effort not to. Because you don’t want to lose out on a fantastic buddy just because you’ve had a few negative encounters.

3. Don’t settle for any less than you deserve

I’ve seen people calling bullies their friends. Why? Because they don’t want to appear sensitive and don’t want to sever a link. But it doesn’t feel worthy no matter how hard I try. I understand we don’t have to keep breaking bonds because of a few clashes, but when it’s overwhelming, you gotta do what’s tough.

De-clutter your relationships so there’s enough space for good friendships.

4. Give second chances

Everybody makes mistakes. You, I, and them. It’s really important to give second chances. Especially in friendship. Things might change to how you like. So don’t miss out on that by being too stubborn.

5. Never give third chances

When a person makes the same mistake over and again, remember to focus on your actions and reactions. That’s the only way you can have a little control over the situation.

And finally, one very important tip to find true friends is to always put yourself out there. Be open to inviting people in. It’s how you keep meeting new and interesting people that you resonate with.
