5 Doors to Get Out of a Bad Mood

We wake up in bad mood some days. No reason at all. Just one disturbing thought and there goes a brand new day down the drain. Although we can’t help avoid those scenarios, we sure can minimize the effect. I know it’s difficult to monitor our thoughts all the time but a few handy tips won’t hurt. Right?

I was a grumpy morning person but it changed now. Not completely, I still have grumpy mornings. But something definitely changed and these days, I happen to have good mornings as well.

Well, there are a great many factors that affect our mood and thus our day. And this is how I turn around an inarguably bad mood into a somewhat bearable one.

Turn around your Bad Mood

Number one, I re-establish my belief system.

Most of the time our mood turns sour because our belief system steps on shaky ground. That leads to negative self-talk and low morale. So the moment I feel I’m in a bad mood, I re-establish my beliefs.

Do I truly think I’m not enough? NO.

Do I honestly think I can’t do it? NO.

Do I frankly think someone else’s judgemental opinions matter? NO.

Who defines what success is for me? Myself.

I tell myself all the things I wanna hear and believe to be true. We all wanna hear good things but we may not get to all the time. That’s when you have to be there for yourself.

Two, I re-count the silver linings.

Is everything bad? No. There are many good things we overlook while being overwhelmed by the chaos. Thus count the gratifying things in your life. You may think it is nothing but a cliche but gratitude changes everything.

Three, what brings a smile to your face?

You know yourself better than anyone. So ask yourself, ‘What brings a smile on my lips?’ Sometimes when I’m in a really bad mood, I watch BTS. Their songs, their fun, dances, always make me smile. Or sometimes I  watch someone’s happy moments, it’s nice to see someone smile from the heart.

Now you tell me, what makes you smile? Instantly.

Fourth, I talk less to myself.

When in bad mood, I want peace, even from myself. I think it’s the stupidest idea to pick a fight with yourself which can only aggravate your bad mood. So I talk less to myself, lest talking at myself. If someone is in a bad mood you try to ease them, not dump more emotional stuff. Right? So do that favour for yourself as well.

Finally, I take a break if possible.

This is not possible always. You just gotta push through no matter what at times. But if possible, a break is the best way you can take a diversion. Take a break and do what you love.

How do these sound to you?

Cliche?

But trust me, these work fine.
