Where The Forest Meets The Stars

Where The Forest Meets The Stars. I’m saying goodbye to 2021 with this incredible book by Glendy Vanderah. I had this title on my TBR list for a long time until I recently got the audiobook (for free, by the way). The way the story began definitely piques the interest of the reader and the author also managed to keep the same interest intact all along. The plot development immersed me throughout the book. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this story and a lot of the credit also goes to the narrator, Lauren Ezzo, of the audiobook. She did a fantastic job and I had a great time.

If you ask me, try reading a physical book. As the story progressed, I kept thinking about whether I should have read the book instead of an audiobook. I’m sure it would have been much more enticing to read it. Because we pick our own tone and we have the complete freedom to stimulate our imagination however we want.

Blurb: Where The Forest Meets The Stars

Joanna Teale returns to her doctoral studies on breeding birds in rural Illinois after the death of her mother and her personal struggle with breast cancer. She is determined to show that her recent hardships have not broken her. She immerses herself in her work from dusk to dawn, until her solitary routine is broken by the arrival of a mystery youngster, barefoot and covered in bruises, at her cabin.

Ursa is the name of the girl who claims to have been sent from the stars to see five miracles. Jo hesitantly agrees to let Ursa stay, as she concerns about the child’s home circumstances.

Jo enlists the assistance of her reclusive next-door neighbour, Gabriel Nash, to uncover the riddle of the adorable youngster. But as they spend more time together, they have more questions.

How can a young girl read and comprehend Shakespeare? Why do nice things continue to happen in her presence? And why aren’t Jo and Gabe scanning the website for missing children anymore?

Even though the three have created an unbelievable relationship, they are aware that difficult decisions must be made. As the summer draws to a close and Ursa approaches her fifth miracle, her terrible history creeps in. When it eventually catches up with them, all of their agonising secrets will be exposed, and their fates will be decided by the stars.

That’s the summary of “Where the forest meets the stars.

Review:

I found it quite intriguing even when I read the summary alone and I immediately knew I had to read this. I loved every character and every scene portrayed in the book. Ursa, the little weirdo, is my favourite character. I broke into peels of laughter many times while reading it, mostly during the banter between Ursa and Jo.

And the ending was also convincing and satisfying. Most importantly, it didn’t feel forced to arrive at a preconceived end, as it can happen with some stories. Every scene, line, and character had a purpose. It is quite difficult to achieve but Glendy did and it definitely reflected in the story.

Overall, it’s a brilliant story and convincing narration that will captivate you. Go ahead and give it a go. You’re going to love it.

Cheers,

Nikki.
