Achieve Self-Love & 11 Other Things Through That

I always say this and that about self-love, how necessary it is (we all do), and now, I thought maybe I should tell you what you can achieve through self-love. Only then you’ll know why it is so important, right?! You should know the reasons to choose self-love. That very thought led me to write this. I could only come up with 11 of them but I’m sure there’s so much more to self-love. And before that, let’s see how you achieve self-love first.

How do you practice and achieve self-love?

  • Loving yourself
  • Appreciating yourself
  • Knowing yourself better. Your self-worth. (We think we know ourselves more than anyone but that’s not true in every case. Sometimes, we have to dig deep to know our true selves. The more you try, the more you’ll be surprised at the things you are unaware of yourself.) I did not know what my favorite color is until a few years back, I just thought I like every color. But now I know which one. Golden Yellow. I also found out that I’m not a fan of white color. Not that it is a big thing to know but my point is that there’s something I don’t know of years back. I figured it now. Like that, there will be so much to you than just what you see on the surface. Dig deep.
  • Connecting with yourself
  • Investing time in yourself
  • Affirmations

What do you achieve through self-love?

Basically, SO MUCH!!

1. You will learn to be patient with yourself

I think being patient is very necessary, especially with yourself. You know how our parents are so patient with us, they are ever-ready to teach us anything any number of times. Why do you think they do? Because they love us so much. They want us to be happy and at the same time, learn the important things. That’s how we need to be with ourselves. When we can love ourselves so much, we don’t beat ourselves up over every tiny mishap. We will treat ourselves with patience, love, and care.

“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection”
 – Buddha

2. Confidence

The next thing you can achieve through self-love is Confidence. We cannot compromise on being confident. It is something you need to have. It’s not an option. And that can be achieved through self-love. As I said, appreciating yourself for the things you did and you have can really boost up your confidence levels. Every little thing deserves appreciation.

“The deepest principle in human nature is the craving to be appreciated.”
– William James

3. Perseverance

As self-love teaches you patience, hence it’ll also teach you perseverance. These are all connected to one another. Self-love to patience and to perseverance. If you never want to go to your second try, you’ll end up losing three-fourths of the opportunities. Nothing happens in the first try itself, you must try again and again.

“Low self-esteem is like driving through life with your hand-break on.”
– Maxwell Maltz

4. Positivity

Optimism. When you achieve self-love there will be very less room for negativity in your mind and hence life. Trust me on this. Imagine you appreciating yourself often, what happens then? You feel liberated, you feel contented. Eventually, you don’t feel like thinking negative. Because you know better.

You can literally feel the pattern of your thoughts transforming as you practice self-love and positivity.

5. The joy of being YOU

There’s FOMO, there’s JOMO and why not JOBU. It’s the joy of being YOU. Did I just coin a term? *Grin* So, I believe this is something everyone should find out. Not knowing it is the biggest mistake anyone can make. You must know yourself, you must find the joy in being yourself. No one else can know it for you except yourself.

6. Mindfulness

Mindfulness is one thing you get when you achieve self-love. You will become aware of the things happening around you and in your mind. You will accept yourself as you are and also, keep trying to be better. You will find a balance with your emotions.

7. Mental peace

A peaceful mind is home to all good things. A calm, positively energized mind can attract an awful lot of good things. You will clearly find the difference when even a little setback would stir up a storm in your mind and when you take the outcome as it is and try to make it better with a diligent approach towards the issue. And that you’re going to get through self-love

8. You will find a best friend in yourself

One thing you do while practicing self-love is trying to know yourself better. While doing that you are going to meet a new best friend in yourself.

There will be days in life where you feel like you don’t know who you should turn to. At those times, you can turn to yourself and think it through. You are going to offer the best advice to yourself. Having a best friend so close as you can be really helpful.

“The worst loneliness is to not be comfortable with yourself.”
– Mark Twain

9. Others opinions wouldn’t bother you

We live in a world where everyone is strongly opinionated, including ourselves. And sometimes, it might threaten our mental harmony. For fighting such times, self-love is a way to safely get through. While practicing self-love, you will understand that the only opinion that matters is yours. Not just understand it, you will also execute it most effectively.

“Why should we worry about what others think of us, do we have more confidence in their opinions than we do our own?”
– Brigham Young

10. You will deal better with any crises

There will be setbacks and contingencies in life that we ought to deal with as we go on. If we are cranky and pessimistic, it won’t help the situation. It would even hinder it further. Achieve self-love and you’ll know how to treat yourself during a crisis. We need a calm mind to know where we are standing in the situation and evaluate the possibilities. And again, self-love is one way to get there.

“The real difficulty is to overcome how you think about yourself.”
– Maya Angelou

11. Happiness

Finally, but the most important one, Happiness. Though it’s that important, somehow we are always in search of happiness. Why couldn’t we get a hold of it? Because we often seem to acquire it through possessions and riches. That happiness is transient. Through self-love, you will obtain happiness. It might not be jumping joy, but you will certainly find yourself in a calm and happy place in life. Where there’s positive energy all around you.

When someone loves you, you feel happy. Don’t you? Same goes with you too. Even if the love coming is only from you, you will feel happiness. Love is love, no matter where it comes from.

“To fall in love with yourself is the first secret to happiness.”
– Robert Morley

That’s how you achieve self-love and the blessings that come along with it. Ask me if I said anything wrong here. Every word I said here came directly from what I’ve felt. Try and prove me wrong if you can! *Wink*

I’ll see you soon again!

Lots of LOVE,

Nikki.
