The Language Of Flowers: So… What Does A Flower Say?

Flowers are pretty. Looking at them makes you happy. It softens your heart as you touch their delicate petals. It’s all one thing but what if I say each flower has a special meaning behind it. I recently happened to stumble upon a few flowers and their meanings and it intrigued me so much. Knowing that a flower is not just for aesthetic appeal but it also has some meaning to it makes me wonder how beautiful human imagination can be.

Everyone is only aware of the meaning of just one flower. Yes, a red rose. It symbolizes love and everyone is only familiar with that. And of course, mistletoe. How sad it must feel for all the other flowers being left out? There are many more flowers with much more special meanings. Would you like to know?

It’s called Floriography. The language of flowers. Isn’t it pretty interesting?! So…

What Does A Flower Say?

1. Yellow Tulip ^_^

Yellow Tulip says “There’s Sunshine in Your Smile“. Isn’t that a sweet thing to say to someone?! Even the visual of the flower conveys the same love and cheerfulness. It can brighten up anyone’s day instantly. A yellow Tulip also means perfect love.

Zinnia 🙂

Want to reaffirm your love for someone? Well, you should consider gifting Zinnia to that person. While there are many colors, Magenta Zinnia says “Lasting affection” for someone. I also think Magenta one is the prettiest one of all. Look how pretty it is!

Viscaria

Viscaria says “Will you dance with me?” Ask someone for a dance with a bunch of these Viscaria flowers and you will earn some brownie points.

Carnations

Pink Carnations say “I will never forget you“. Well, isn’t that what everybody expects to hear? Then look no further than these beautiful, ruffly pink carnations.

Canterbury Bell

Canterbury Bell says “Thank you“, “I am grateful for you“, and “You are my constant“. If you want to show your gratitude for having someone by your side always then this is perfect.

Salvia

Depending on the color these flowers say different things. Blue Salvia says “Thinking of you”, while Red Salvias say “Forever mine”.

Verbena

Verbena says “Pray for me” or “Wish me well”. It’s uncommon to give someone flowers and request them to pray for you but I think it’s a really nice way of saying “I believe you always wish well for me” or “I need your wishes”. It’s like stating how much faith you have in someone. We must openly express ourselves sometimes and Verbena helps you do that. Agree or not?

Daffodils

Daffodils say “New beginnings”. If you want to congratulate someone on their new job, or wedding, or moving into a new place then this will fit any such occasion and share their happiness.

Juniper

Last but not the least, Juniper symbolizes Protection. It says “I will protect you”, “I will take care of you”. I think I like it when someone says “I will protect you” often more than “I love you”. Although both mean the same thing yet totally different.

So, these are just to name a few. My favorite one is… every single one I listed here and many more. LOL. I can’t possibly choose. Which one is your favorite?

And there are many flowers with funny meanings as well. Like… King’s cup means “I wish I were rich”, Spider flower means “Elope with me”, Peach blossom means “I am your captive”, and so on.

Each flower gives you so much scope to be creative with your message. Add a little note with your message and you are set.

Giving someone flowers is a beautiful gesture while receiving flowers from someone is out of this world. I hope you will get to have both the pleasures of giving and receiving.

I’ll see you next time! Stay happy & healthy.

Hasta la Proxima!!

Lots of LOVE,

Nikki.
